Visiting In The North

A few weeks ago we were able to visit a couple of churches in northern Mexico.

Steve preached in Santa Apolonia.

Us with Pastor Chito and family.

Pastor Bernardo and some of the parishioners from La Florida.
We were privileged to distribute some items that many of you donated at each of these churches. Thank you for your giving.

Day 5, Part #2

Bright bougainvillea, men making adobe blocks, and a colorful church in San Gabriel, Mixtepec, Oaxaca.

We stopped by a mission station in the village of Santa Maria. A donation has been given and plans are underway for the construction of a church here.

The Pacific Ocean in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca.

Beautiful!

The sign indicating that there is a speedbump. It's very small and points directly down at the speedbump, giving no advance warning.

Youth Congress, Day #2, Part 2

We left Oaxaca City on Tuesday morning and headed over the mountains. It is a trip of 120 miles which usually takes about 6 hours, because the roads are so bad. We had a little vehicle problem which held us up for a few hours.

Steve and the Correas, working on the van.

Some of us waiting in the shade, while the van was being fixed.

Piling back in for the rest of the trip.

We arrived at San Gabriel, Mixtepec, Oaxaca at 10 p.m. They fed us chicken and rice soup, tortillas, and sweet bread. In this picture, you can see a girl pouring horchata. It is a drink made by boiling rice and adding sugar and cinnamon.

Youth Congress - Day 2, Part #1

Despite arriving so late, a wonderful family from the Oaxaca church extended their gracious overnight hospitality to us. This was the view we saw in the morning...

...and another perspective.

Getting ready to head out for the next leg of our journey.

We took a couple of teenagers (brother and sister) from Oaxaca with us to the youth retreat.
