Steve's Graduation

Here are some photos from Steve's Language School Graduation.

Faculty members pray with Language School graduates as they prepare to go to their respective mission fields: Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Spain and US Hispanic Ministries.

This morning Steve and Marc left on a 10-day tour of our churches in Central and Southern Mexico. This trip will cover several thousand miles of rough roads, so we would appreciate your prayers for them. For more pictures and information visit Melodie's blog at sankeyfamily.blogspot.com

Steve Finished Language School

Steve took his last final exam of Spanish Language School this morning. He was chosen to read scripture during tomorrow night's graduation ceremony. He has done great learning Spanish and we are all so proud of him! He's just glad it's over. :-)

More from Mexico

This picture was taken at the border. The military presence is a little unnerving, but we are getting used to it.

The pastor's wife and mother, join Beth and Kent after church in La Florida. They are doing some remodeling at the church. They built new benches and put up different curtains. They also knocked over the outhouse ... I miss it! :-)

Saying Goodbye to Texas

In June of 2007, we made the move from Bedford, Indiana (where we had lived for 18 years) to Edinburg, Texas. We moved into an apartment on the campus of Rio Grande Bible Institute, where Steve enrolled in the Spanish Language Training Course. Now we are 3 weeks from moving from here to Saltillo, Mexico. We are excited to begin this new ministry, but sorry to leave this little place which we've called home.

Maria's room. She didn't use it much, since she's in Bible College.

Kent's room. It's a fun place!

A House in Saltillo

This past weekend my brother, Marc, took Steve and I to Saltillo to look for a house. Lord willing, Steve will graduate from Language School in 3 weeks and then we will move to Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. Our friends, the Correas and Hernandez, were able to help us find this nice little house. I am thankful that it is in a safe community, close to a good grocery store and only 10 minutes from our church.

This is the street in front of the house. I hope I remember which home is ours! :-)

I've Been Tagged

1. 10 Years Ago I Was ... teaching Kindergarten and 1st Grade at Stone City Christian Academy in Bedford, Indiana.

2. 5 Things On My To Do List ... pack to move, work on a newsletter, type a paper for Steve, help Kent with homeschool, talk to Maria on the phone.

3. Snacks I Enjoy ... ice cream with chocolate syrup, Oreo Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, mangoes, cashews, chili and lime potato chips, I could go on and on ... I LOVE to eat!! :-)

4. Things I Would Do If I Were a Billionaire ... buy a house on a warm, sunny, ocean beach, travel, invest, and give to ministry organizations.

5. Bad Habits ... My life is one Gigantic Habit! I am a totally organized, ritualistic, in a rut kind of person. I get up at 7 and go to bed at 11 every day, I eat Lucky Charms (the generic brand) at 8, while playing a game on the computer, I do one load of laundry every day except Sunday, lunch is at noon, supper is at 5. Well, you get the idea. There is more, but it's just too much and I'm afraid y'all will think I'm weird! :-)

6. Places I've Lived ... Monjas and Guatemala City, Guatemala, San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Bedford, Indiana, Cincinnati, Ohio, Pell City and Birmingham, Alabama, and Edinburg, Texas.

7. Jobs I've Held ... Church Janitor, Nanny, Church Secretary, IHC Media Distributor, Teacher.

Down Memories Lane

Here is a group of "our" kids from Stone City Christian Academy, the school where Steve and I taught for 18 years. We love and miss them all very much. They are great!

They are also CRAZY!!

These pictures were taken at the end of school last year, just a couple weeks before we moved to Texas.
